Archived and completed research programmes

This archive documents research programmes conducted under the Institute's auspices during its active research period, as well as recently completed or paused investigations. All programmes listed here are no longer active. Full documentation for each programme is held in the Institute's physical archive. Access is restricted.

Archived Research Programmes

The following research programmes were conducted under the Institute’s auspices during its active research period and are no longer active. Documentation for each programme is held in the Institute’s archive. Access is restricted.

Synthetic Stimulus Generation & Validation (1969–1978)

Explored methods for generating projective stimuli algorithmically rather than through traditional production methods. The programme concluded that synthetic stimuli produced response distributions indistinguishable from physical stimuli in 83% of test conditions, but the ethical implications of synthetic stimulus deployment were never resolved. Documentation: IPS-RP-1978-04. [Restricted.]

Non-Clinical Applications of Projective Classification (1990–1999)

The Institute’s Chair and Vice-Chair considered, but did not formally approve, proposals to apply the FIM-800 classification framework to domains outside clinical and research psychology. Discussed applications included natural formation taxonomy, temporal memory pattern classification, and social signal analysis. Internal memoranda documenting these discussions are held in the archive. No formal research programme was initiated. Documentation: IPS-EXEC-1999-12. [Internal — Executive memoranda. Not available for viewing.]
