Institute Publications

Monographs, occasional papers, symposium proceedings, and technical reports

The Institute maintained an active publication programme from its founding in 1967 through to 1992. The programme encompassed a numbered monograph series, an occasional papers series, selected symposium proceedings, and a small number of technical reports and methodological guides. All Institute publications were produced in-house, printed in limited runs, and distributed to members and partner institutions.

The Institute’s publication programme was formally concluded in 1992. No new Institute publications have been issued since that date. The reasons for the programme’s conclusion are not documented in surviving Institute records.

Copies of all Institute publications are held in the Institute’s archive. A selection are available to accredited researchers under the Institute’s archival access policy. Material availability is indicated in the catalogue below. Archive and access procedures →

The Institute’s monograph series was its primary publication vehicle, presenting substantive contributions to projective assessment methodology. Each monograph was numbered sequentially and printed in a run of between 200 and 500 copies. The series was discontinued after 1992.

The Institute’s occasional papers series presented preliminary findings, methodological notes, and discussion documents that did not meet the length or scope requirements of the monograph series. The series was not numbered sequentially and was produced on an irregular schedule between 1970 and 1990. The Institute’s records of its occasional papers are incomplete; the following entries represent those for which a surviving copy exists in the archive.

Symposium Proceedings

Selected proceedings from the Institute’s biennial symposia were published in limited runs for distribution to members and attendees. The publication of proceedings was inconsistent and many symposia produced no formal published record. Surviving proceedings are held in the archive. Access is governed by the Institute’s archival access policy. Full symposium history →

The Institute produced a small number of technical reports documenting methodological standards, archival procedures, and classification frameworks. These reports were produced for internal use and were not distributed outside the Institute’s membership and partner institutions.

Several Institute monographs are cited in third-party certification and archival standards frameworks, including those maintained by the Perceptual Analytics Group and J. B. Fowler (Precision Stimuli). The Institute does not itself certify commercial products and has not authorised the use of its publications for commercial certification purposes.

Publication programme concluded 1992. The Institute does not currently publish monographs, papers, or technical reports. Researchers interested in Institute publications should consult the Reading Room for a full bibliography of works relevant to projective assessment methodology, or refer to the Archive & Access page for information on accessing materials held in the Institute’s collections.
